Pantoprazole is used to treat erosive esophagitis caused by acid reflux disease (GERD) in adults and children aged 5 years and older. It helps heal the damage to the esophagus and prevents it from returning. It is also used to treat rare conditions where the stomach produces too much acid, such as Zollinger-Ellison syndrome.

Do not use pantoprazole if you are allergic to pantoprazole or any other component in the medication. Do not take this drug if you are using rilpivirine-containing products, as serious interactions may occur.
