Etanercept is used to treat rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, and plaque psoriasis in adults. In children aged 2 years and older, it treats polyarticular juvenile idiopathic arthritis and juvenile psoriatic arthritis; in children aged 4 years and older, it treats plaque psoriasis. It reduces symptoms, improves physical function, and slows joint damage progression.
Etanercept must not be used in patients with sepsis (serious bloodstream infection).
