Methotrexate is used to treat acute lymphoblastic leukemia, non-Hodgkin lymphoma, osteosarcoma, and breast cancer as part of combination chemotherapy, and to prevent and treat leukemia that has spread to the brain.
Do not use methotrexate if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant, as it can cause miscarriage or birth defects. Women of childbearing age must have pregnancy ruled out before starting treatment and should use effective contraception during therapy.
