Allopurinol is used to treat gout in adults by managing acute attacks, joint damage, and kidney problems caused by uric acid buildup. It is also used in cancer patients receiving chemotherapy to prevent dangerous increases in uric acid levels. Additionally, it helps prevent recurrent kidney stones in patients with very high uric acid excretion.

Do not use allopurinol if you are allergic to allopurinol or any ingredients in this medication.
