Risperidone is used to treat schizophrenia in adults and adolescents, acute manic or mixed episodes in bipolar disorder (alone or with lithium or valproate), and irritability associated with autistic disorder. Effectiveness has been proven in multiple clinical trials across different age groups.

Do not use risperidone if you are allergic to risperidone, paliperidone, or any ingredients in this medication. Serious allergic reactions, including anaphylaxis and swelling of the face and throat, have occurred with this drug.
